The three buildings constituting this project were the first with which I was involved at Poundbury.

I am happy to say that Morrish Builders have implemented the detail designs produced by my practice, faithfully and with true commitment to high quality workmanship. Working with traditional methods of construction requires patience and understanding of materials, the results of Newborough House, Escalus House and Woodman Court demonstrate Morrish Builders ability to deliver excellence in this regard.

Newborough House and Escalus House form the south side of Queen Mother Square which is intended as a major civic centre for Poundbury. Newborough House is a long building which has a central Portico with 3 arches with a rusticated stucco ground floor and pedimented bay. Escalus House has an ornate central door surround and pediment facing East, the elevation facing Queen Mother Square employs the Palladian Doric Order at ground floor level for the entrance porch with pilasters around the remaining window openings.
